***A FULL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM***
The founding program of the Manchester Music Festival, brought to life by Carroll Glenn and Eugene List, the Young Artists Program is a full-scholarship, chamber music study program for gifted young musicians. Download application brochure.
Each summer, up to 24 college-age students, intent on making music their profession, come to Manchester from around the world to study and perform for six weeks. While in residence, the students, who are funded entirely by generous sponsors, give free community concerts at diverse business and civic venues, perform weekly in their own concert series, and teach area children during Music Education Week. In intensive study with MMF faculty and visiting artists in Master Classes, the Young Artists live and breathe the vast riches of chamber music, liberated from financial burdens and other practical concerns. Each Young Artist is, where possible, personally introduced to her or his sponsor. This introduction often results in long-standing support and concern for the artist's future well-being in music.
Entrance into the Young Artists program for students age 19 and up is by audition, either recorded, or in-person with an MMF faculty member. The roster of participants will include: 7 violinists, 5 violists, 5 cellists, 2 pianists, and one each flute, French Horn, oboe, clarinet and bassoon. Existing ensembles are encouraged to apply. Download application brochure.
